About Digital Studio Art
Digital Studio Art is a digital art class where students learn art theory concepts such as the elements of art, principles of design, typography, composition, and color theory. You will learn the powerful software tools used to create digital art for print such as Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. You will learn to edit and adjust photographs, create original photo manipulations, original illustrations, and commercial art such as advertisements, posters and/or logos. Some stock photo imagery may be used, and taking and manipulating your own original photographs is highly encouraged.
This is a project-based course where students will create works of art in response to practicing techniques, prompts and themes. Due to the remote nature of the course we will have to be flexible with our software choices, however demonstrations and tutorials will be taught using programs we have access to in our digital art lab (all programs available to remote work via VMware).
Possible projects include: Movie poster design, logo design, surrealist image, self-portrait, digital painting, typographic design, vector illustration, character design, album cover design, and student choice projects.
All work will be assessed using rubrics designed with objective criteria and expectations. The following are the grade weights for Digital Studio Art:
